Nothing here. It’s been a bonkers day and I’m exhausted so I doubt any progress will be made here tonight.

Polishing the Well

I got the chance to see this again tonight and it was just as funny as I remember it. Everything surrounding getting to the play was dreadful which is a big part of why I’m so wiped out.

My Own Personal Cosmos

Today starts our next series for June all about my Stratasphere concept. The first and most obvious question is what the heck it is.

The Stratasphere is the “universe” that contains all my fantasy novels. This includes those written in part or in whole and all the ideas I’ve had and have yet to discover. The Stratasphere is not the entire universe or even the entire known universe. It is a portion of the universe that we will never find. It’s my galaxy far, far away.

Each of my fantasy novels takes place on a planet. Sometimes multiple novels will take place on the same planet, sometimes there will be a standalone novel from a given planet. Every planet exists within a star system and every system is collected into a galaxy.

Above galaxies, though, are strata. Each stratum is overseen by an archangel called a Stratarch. Their only job is to watch and report to God if something goes awry. They are NOT to interfere or intervene in any of the goings on within their stratum.

Archangels don’t listen.

So many strata have been contaminated by the actions of a Stratarch. Once this happens, the fabric of that stratum is irrevocably changed. A shockwave spreads from the point of their interference and affects every galaxy, system, and planet within. Each level is affected differently and these effects are often called magic.

Once a Stratarch starts meddling, they tend to continue to do so. This only exacerbates the problem, though it does not introduce new magic forms. These interactions complicate things to an extreme degree, but because of the size of each stratum, there is rarely any issue between strata.

Rarely…

This organization system helps me iterate on magic and make changes as needed at an enormous level. It also helps me keep things straight for my grand master plan, but that is a discussion for another day. For now, chew on this concept and we’ll dive deeper into some of the details in the coming days. Ciao!

May the tide carry you to safer shores.
