Today has been a pretty big adventure for me as an author. I started a Twitter account just for my writing last August, but I never ventured into the Blogosphere or into Critique Country. Today, I have done both.

I started my blog here which I find that I am enjoying much more than I thought I would. Twitter is great for posting quick updates and thoughts, but I’m a writer for crying out loud! I want to write! This blog gives me the chance to put more on paper than #amwriting. I don’t intend to reveal secrets or plans through this blog, but it will help me get my meta-thoughts out so they are not getting in the way of my head-friends’ stories. Theirs are the more important ones to tell. I am just a man. Some of them are magicians.

[I know I must sound like a crazy person talking about friends in my head, but that is how I have seen them for quite a while now. It helps me chart their life in my stories for them with a softer touch. I know I have to torture my darlings (and they ARE my darlings), but at least now I can feel bad for them and find a way for them to come out of the torture for a moment before I drop them back into the crucible.]

Critiquing was the next step and it terrified me. It still terrifies me a bit, but with Critters Workshop, I find that some of my major fears are assuaged. In addition, it gives me the opportunity (and the requirement) to critique others. This will help immensely as it will improve my own self-evaluation tactics, increase the amount I’m writing (making me a better writer as long as I do it well), and give me free material to read! All this to earn the opportunity to have my own work evaluated. I am excited at the prospect.

For now, it is off to finish writing Chapter Four and get a little sleep tonight. I don’t know if the latter is possible with the excitement I have inside for my work, but I have to try. Tomorrow is a work-day after all and until my head-friends find a way to pay the bills, I have to take a momentary hiatus from them to do so.

Good night, friends.
