Resisting the Vice
This week has been a rough one. I have been resisting the vice all week. A lot has been going on. Here’s how I deal with times like these.
Character Profiles
My character profiles have had to evolve a lot over the years. When I only had the characters in Book I, I could keep the characters, their turns of speech, their hopes, dreams, fears, and quirks all straight in my head. Book III blew that simple approach up completely.
The Year Ahead
I hinted at what I’m doing this year above, but let’s get specific.
It’s Been Too Long
2022 was a heck of a year. I end the year in a happier place than I ended ’21 for sure. All signs point to ’22 being an improvement. Was it all sunshine and roses? Of course not. I want to focus on the positives, though, to build momentum for the new year.
Dealing with Disappointment
Dealing with disappointment is an important part of life in generaly but is especially poignant in creative endeavors. I mention almost weekly that large creative pursuits take a long time. This is not an instantly gratifying goal. Undoubtedly, you will run into much disappointment over the YEARS it will take to bring your creation to fruition. I know I have. The important thing is how we deal with it.
